The storied goalie Manuel Neuer’s contract with Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich has been renewed as of this morning, November 28.
Sven Ulreich, the team’s backup goalkeeper who filled in for Manuel Neuer while the latter was sidelined due to a protracted injury, has had his contract renewed by Bayern Munich.
Ulreich and Neuer agreed to a contract extension that will keep them with the all-star team in the German Bundesliga through June 30, 2025.
At 37 years old, Manuel Neuer has played 117 games for Germany’s national team and won 11 trophies with Bayern.
Now that Neuer’s one-year contract extension has been announced, it is certain that he will stay with the team until after he is 39.
“I’m happy to be staying at FC Bayern for another year,” Neuer stated after extending his contract at the Munich team. Following my protracted injury, I’m fully recovered. I’m having a great time playing on the field with this group. I’m confident that we can accomplish our major objectives in the upcoming years with the support of the supporters, and the 2025 Champions League final in Munich is undoubtedly one of them. It’s even better knowing that Sven is still by my side.
However, Ulreich, 35, has shown himself to be a very good backup goalie for Manuel Neuer after starting the first eight games of the 2023–24 Bundesliga season as the team’s first choice. He gave up just seven goals in five contests while Neuer recovered from his injury.
The youthful goalie Daniel Peretz is projected to lose out to the former VfB Stuttgart and Hamburg stopper as Neuer’s backup.
