Chris Evert, the tennis broadcaster, will not be able to commentate on the 2024 Australian Open due to a recurrence of ovarian cancer. This marks the latest development in her two-year battle since she was first diagnosed in December 2021. Evert, who will turn 69 on December 21, had previously announced being cancer-free in January but the setback follows a familial connection, with her sister Jeanne passing away from ovarian cancer in February 2020. Evert underwent robotic surgery and has begun another round of chemotherapy, but is unable to join her colleagues when ESPN returns to Melbourne for the Australian Open next month.
