Despite criticism following the Tottenham vs. Liverpool VAR incident, Referee chief Howard Webb has decided to maintain the controversial policy allowing officials to work outside UEFA.
The issue arose when VAR Darren England’s recent work in the United Arab Emirates was questioned as potentially affecting Premier League officiating. Webb has stated that each request for overseas work will be evaluated on its own merits, but only approved if it provides development opportunities for officials and does not impact their availability for domestic leagues.
Critics have raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and corruption, but Webb has defended the policy.
