John Higgins has secured his place in the semi-finals of the BetVictor Scottish Open for the fourth time in his career, defeating Tom Ford 5-3 at the Meadowbank Sport Centre in Edinburgh. The Scottish player is aiming to win his first title at his home event, having been a runner-up in 2016 and 2021. Although Higgins had struggled in previous rounds this week, he managed to find his form, hitting breaks of 132, 61, and 64 to take a 3-1 lead. Ford fought back with breaks of 58, 56, and 99 to level the score at 3-3, but Higgins managed to win the seventh frame and secured the victory with a break of 71 in the eighth. Higgins will face Noppon Saengkham in the semi-finals, who defeated Sanderson Lam 5-3. Defending champion Gary Wilson also progressed to the semi-finals with a 5-0 win over Chris Wakelin and will face Zhou Yuelong, who won a nerve-shredding 5-4 victory over Stuart Bingham.
