Taylor Swift, the global music sensation, has been named the biggest celebrity CO2 polluter for 2023 in a recent environmental report, marking her second consecutive year at the top of the list. The 34-year-old star’s continuous travels, primarily to be with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, have resulted in an astonishing 138 tons of CO2 emissions in the past three months alone. Swift’s well-publicized romance has seen her frequently traveling between New York, Kansas City, and various South American destinations for her ongoing Eras Tour. Her trips have resulted in an environmental impact equivalent to the energy consumption of 17 houses in a year or the electricity use of 26.9 homes over the same period. Swift, who owns two multi-million dollar planes, a Dassault Falcon 7x, and a Dassault Falcon 900, has faced criticism for her carbon footprint. The calculated 138 tons of CO2 emissions would require planting 2,282 trees and allowing them to grow for a decade to offset the environmental damage caused by her flights. Despite these concerns, Swift’s romance with Kelce continues to flourish, with the pair frequently traveling to and from his games and her concerts to spend time together.
