The New York Jets may see the return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Christmas Eve at MetLife Stadium when they face the Washington Commanders. Rodgers had suffered an Achilles injury only four snaps into his franchise debut during Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season. At 40 years old, Rodgers has been cleared to practice and has shown his commitment through some incredible plays. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Rodgers is likely to be medically cleared to play in the upcoming week, but it is not a guarantee that he will play in Week 16. The Jets have been targeting this date for the past three months, and Rodgers’ return to the field may depend on the team’s result against the Miami Dolphins. The Jets and Rodgers will discuss the best course of action, but a win over Miami by Zach Wilson would keep New York’s postseason hopes alive. If Wilson continues to play well and helps the team reach the playoffs without Rodgers, his return for the postseason would be definite. However, a Christmas Eve return for Rodgers is unlikely at this time.
