Liverpool sporting director Jorg Schmadtke is set to step back from his role, leaving the club in search of a long-term successor. Schmadtke had been serving in the position on an interim basis since May, with the possibility of an extension if all parties agreed. However, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Schmadtke now plans to leave the role after fulfilling his duties through the winter window. Despite initial concerns over his lack of input, Schmadtke oversaw a successful summer transfer window that brought in several key players. Liverpool may now be left to seek a full-time replacement, with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund among those previously linked to the position.
