Michael Holt is preparing for his upcoming participation in Q Tour UK/Europe Event Six in Sofia, as he seeks to secure his place on the World Snooker Tour for the next season. The Hitman has already won two events this season, including a victory over Liam Davies, currently ranked second. If he wins this weekend’s event, he will have an unassailable lead at the top of the rankings, allowing him to return to professional status for the first time since the 21/22 season. In an interview, Holt expressed his excitement about his recent win in Brighton, but also acknowledged the challenges of the upcoming tournament, which features a precarious best-of-five format and club tables that allow for more players to win.
At present, I am not yet on the tour and must continue to win in order to have a chance. If I am unable to secure a spot through the Q Tour, I will attempt to do so through the playoffs or Q School. Regardless, I am determined to find a way onto the tour and will approach each opportunity with my best effort, preparation, and attitude. As for the depth of talent on the main tour, it has certainly grown over time. When I first entered a ranking event, I was in awe of the top players, but now many others have had the chance to become familiar with them. The Q Tour, with its events in various European countries, is an important step towards expanding the game’s reach. It is crucial to provide opportunities for players from different regions if we hope to see the game grow on a global scale. Ultimately, the best players will rise to the top, and those who are talented enough will find their way onto the tour.
