After Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup third-round loss to Liverpool at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta acknowledged that the team needs a “reset” mentally. Despite dominating the first half, the Gunners failed to capitalise on their chances, and ultimately, an own goal from Jakub Kiwior and Luis Diaz’s finish in added time secured the win for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Arteta recognised that his team is at risk of falling into a mental slump, and the break comes at a good time for them. He emphasised the need to support and train the players and visualise a different outcome. Klopp, on the other hand, was pleased with his team’s second-half performance but dismissed any implications for the Premier League title race. He listed the injured and absent players and highlighted the importance of avoiding excuses and staying in the game.
