In a thrilling encounter in Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid secured their place in the Supercopa Espana final with a 5-3 extra-time victory over Atletico Madrid. After a 3-3 draw in 90 minutes, an own goal from Stefan Savic and Brahim Diaz sealed the win for Real Madrid. Despite Atleti winning the first derby fixture of the season, Real Madrid had not lost a game since then, with their unbeaten run stretching 18 games. Mario Hermoso put Atletico in front early on, but Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy scored to put Real Madrid in control. Antoine Griezmann restored parity for Atletico before Dani Carvajal equalised for Real Madrid in the 85th minute. In extra time, Real Madrid secured the win with an own goal and a goal from Brahim Diaz.
