On Sunday at AT&T Stadium, Jordan Love, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, made his playoffs debut and secured a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card game. Love’s dominant performance resulted in a near-perfect passer rating of 157.2, making him the first quarterback in NFL history to achieve this on his postseason debut. He completed 16 of 21 passes, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns. This victory has left Aaron Rodgers’ legacy stained in comparison.
In contrast, Rodgers made his postseason debut in 2009, which resulted in a wild card loss to the Arizona Cardinals on the road. He had two seasons as a starter by then. Despite winning back-to-back league MVP awards in 2020 and 2021, Rodgers’ career record in elimination games is 12-10. He won only a single Super Bowl during his time with the Packers and failed to reach the playoffs the year after his consecutive MVP awards.
Love, on the other hand, finished second in touchdown passes this season, only behind Dak Prescott, and has started his playoff journey with a 1-0 record. If Love manages to defeat the San Francisco 49ers next weekend, Packers fans may start to forget about their former QB.
