Unfortunately, the Chelsea skipper’s return date is uncertain due to Reece James’ hamstring injury and surgery in December. As a result, Chelsea may need to seek cover in that position and potentially look to a player they already know well. One option could be Kyle Walker-Peters, who may be leaving Southampton soon and has the ability to play both right-back and left-back. Although there was no interest in him during the summer, Chelsea and other clubs may be interested in signing him if Southampton is willing to sell. Pochettino has managed Walker-Peters before and praised his potential, but he struggled for game-time at Tottenham due to the team’s depth at right-back. With 10 assists in 115 Premier League games and former Saints boss Ruben Selles labeling him an “extraordinary” player, Walker-Peters could be a valuable addition to Chelsea’s squad.
