Atalanta midfielder Ederson has been linked to Newcastle United in recent months. Reports from Calciomercato in November suggested that the Magpies were willing to spend around £17.5million on the 24-year-old. Tutto Atalanta has since reiterated that Newcastle is in the race for Ederson alongside Juventus, but the Bergamo outfit is after €35million (around £30million) for their player. With Joelinton, Elliot Anderson, and Joe Willock injured, and Sandro Tonali suspended until the end of the season, Newcastle is currently short of numbers in midfield. South American football expert Tim Vickery suggested that Ederson would be a good addition to Eddie Howe’s Magpies, given his versatile playing style and strong personality. Vickery also noted that Ederson’s traits are reminiscent of Bruno Guimaraes, who has become an icon at St James’ Park.
