The winger, aged 28, has become a crucial player in Eddie Howe’s Newcastle team, having made 36 appearances in the Premier League last season before sustaining a shoulder injury this campaign. Despite only making nine appearances this term, Murphy has impressed, with Alan Shearer praising him after a win against Crystal Palace. However, according to the Athletic, Newcastle may be willing to sell the former Norwich City attacker as they need to sell before they can sign anyone this January. Although transfer interest in Murphy is currently limited, there is a chance that a Premier League club may not be willing to pay a decent fee to sign him. Even though Newcastle’s financial position has put them in a difficult position, selling Murphy would be a step in the wrong direction for the Magpies. Murphy has proven to be a valuable member of the team under Howe, and to sell him now would be unjust.
