Aston Villa has been having an exceptional season, achieving unprecedented success in the Premier League so far. With a potential spot in next season’s Champions League, Villa is expected to use the January transfer window to progress. Emery, the manager, is planning to restructure several areas of his squad, with a 28-year-old player now free to leave. Villa hopes to recruit a winger for their squad this month and has set their sights on Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna. Reyna, who was previously considered one of the world’s best up-and-coming talents, is struggling to progress at Dortmund, having not scored a single goal this season. Reyna is reportedly available for around £17m, and Villa may pursue a loan or a permanent deal for him. Despite Reyna’s current form, his reputation as a talented player makes him a bargain for Villa. Sancho, Reyna’s former teammate, had praised his skill set in 2020, but Reyna has yet to fulfill his potential. A move to Villa could possibly change the trajectory of his career. Villa seems to be targeting several lofty targets this month.
