Newcastle United, managed by Eddie Howe, were reportedly scouting Hayden Hackney during his match for Middlesbrough against Chelsea, as per The Daily Mail. The club is said to be interested in signing the 21-year-old midfielder during the January transfer window, and could potentially sell Joelinton in 2024. Hackney started for Boro, playing in a two-man attacking midfield in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has praised the England Under-21 international, who has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur. In my opinion, Hackney would be a valuable addition to Newcastle’s team.
Newcastle United may benefit from signing Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney in the future. While it’s unlikely that Boro will part ways with the 21-year-old midfielder during the current season, a transfer could occur in 2024 if they fail to achieve promotion to the Premier League. Although Hackney has yet to play in the top league, he possesses potential and has been performing well in the Championship. Newcastle would need to exercise patience with him, considering his young age. Hackney has already made 16 starts and one substitute appearance, scoring a goal, for Middlesbrough in the Premier League this season.
