The Tractor Boys are about to achieve an “impressive coup”, as per TEAMtalk.
Reports suggest that Sunderland missed out on signing Coulson, despite being linked to him. Luton has also shown interest in the 23-year-old, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Coulson showcased his skills during the pre-season of 2019-20, earning him a spot in the Middlesbrough first team under Jonathan Woodgate.
“I tried to push him two seasons ago, when Tony Pulis got the job. We have a terrific environment for him now, he can play in a number of positions. He has been fantastic in training and in my opinion he will be going places.”
Coulson was awarded a new contract by Boro in late 2019 and was the recipient of the Boro Supporters’ Young Player of the Year award that season. However, he seems to be surplus to requirements under Neil Warnock, as he has fallen down the pecking order and only made six Championship starts last season.
