Ipswich Town, who are looking to secure their place in the Premier League after earning promotion to the Championship last season, have been active in the transfer market. Kieran McKenna has already signed Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton & Hove Albion and Lewis Travis from Blackburn Rovers. However, the Tractor Boys are now turning their attention to the summer transfer window and are eyeing Lewis O’Donnell as a potential future star.
Currently sitting just one point clear in the automatic promotion spot, Ipswich have struggled in their last seven Championship games, winning only once against Sunderland. As they face the risk of losing their promotion spot, McKenna is hoping that the new signings will be enough to fend off challenges from Southampton and Leeds United.
Speaking about Sarmiento’s arrival, McKenna said, “We’re really pleased to have him. He’s a player that we feel that we know pretty well.” The Tractor Boys are now scouting O’Donnell, an 18-year-old midfielder who is currently on loan at Kelty Hearts from Dundee United. Ipswich will have to compete with Norwich City and Watford for his signature.
O’Donnell’s versatility and talent have caught the eye of Championship sides, and Ipswich could be the ideal destination for the young Scotsman to accelerate his development. However, the Tractor Boys will have to beat their rivals to secure his services and work under the guidance of McKenna.
