Sacha Tavolieri has reported that Leeds United has offered St Truiden defender Daiki Hashioka a contract until 2028. This comes amidst interest in the Japan international from other clubs such as Club Brugge and several Bundesliga clubs. Talks between the two parties were reportedly “well advanced” as per David Van den Broeck. Full-back is currently a position lacking in squad depth at Elland Road, with injuries to Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton and Junior Firpo. Hashioka’s attacking ability could make him a great fit for Leeds, having scored eight goals and provided 21 assists in 187 appearances for Urawa Red Diamonds and St Truiden. He could potentially fill the vacancy left by Luke Ayling and Djed Spence.
Farke’s attacking style of play will be complemented by Firpo’s ability to fly up and down the flank, as evidenced by his two assists in his last four appearances. With his absence from the Asian Cup this year, a move to Leeds could potentially revive his career, particularly at the international level. Leeds supporters should keep an eye out for the forthcoming transfer announcement. Additionally, a Sky Sports pundit was left in awe by a player’s “unbelievable” performance against Plymouth Argyle.
