Over the last three years, the Buffalo Bills have invested heavily in their roster, using draft picks and millions of dollars to try and win a Super Bowl. Despite their efforts, they fell short and are now facing the consequences of their spending. The Bills are entering the offseason with one of the worst salary-cap situations in the NFL, as their investments in aging players and massive contract extensions have closed their window of competing with their top stars. In 2024, the Bills will have to make some tough decisions to become compliant with the NFL salary cap, including potentially parting ways with starters like Tre’Davious White and Von Miller. Other players, such as Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, Dion Dawkins, and Josh Allen, will likely have their contracts restructured to free up cap space. However, even with these efforts, many of the Bills’ top free agents may not return in 2024 due to their challenging financial situation.
