Despite Unai Emery’s denial of any further signings after Rogers, it is possible that Gauci may arrive before him as negotiations are at an advanced stage. While a £15m deal for Rogers was agreed with Middlesbrough, Gauci has already completed his medical ahead of a proposed move to Villa Park. Set to sign a contract until 2028, he will add depth to the goalkeeping area and may even push Emi Martinez for the number one spot. Currently away on international duty at the Asia Cup, the deal will be concluded there and he may be involved in Villa’s next Premier League match against Man United on Sunday, February 11. With a career in Australia, Gauci has played 76 times for his current club Adelaide United and has kept 17 clean sheets.
