The Patriots quarterback job has been linked to Bears star Justin Fields, who may be available if the Bears use their No. 1 overall pick to choose USC’s Caleb Williams. Acquiring Fields could be an attractive option for teams in need of a top quarterback, as it would only require a second-round pick. The “Move the Sticks” podcast from the NFL Network explored ways for the Patriots to acquire Fields and build up a pile of picks to rebuild the roster for new coach Jerod Mayo. Host Daniel Jeremiah suggested trading the No. 34 pick for Fields, then auctioning off the No. 3 pick to a team interested in trading up for Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye. Brooks agreed with this idea and stated that Fields is a de facto member of this year’s draft class. After acquiring Fields, the Patriots could go with Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 3 or sell off the pick to add much-needed depth. The Patriots are in a position to consider the entire field of available quarterbacks, including Fields and Russell Wilson.
