On Thursday night, the Carolina Panthers announced the completion of their coaching staff for 2024. The main focus was on offensive coaches to support head coach Dave Canales. The following coaches have been added: Will Harriger as the quarterbacks coach, Nathan Carroll as the pass game coordinator, Pat McPherson as the tight ends coach, Keli’i Kekuewa as the assistant offensive line coach, Daren Bates as the special teams assistant, and Scott Cooper as the Director of Coaching Development.
Harriger has worked in various assistant positions on both sides of the ball, starting with coaching linebackers in college football. He joined the Seahawks in 2014 as an offensive assistant and was later promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach. He has also worked for the Falcons, Jaguars, and Cowboys.
Carroll is the son of Pete, a well-known pass game expert. He started as a defensive assistant in 2011 before transitioning to an offensive assistant in 2013. He worked alongside Canales as an assistant wide receivers coach before becoming the wide receivers coach himself.
McPherson, a former offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach for the Broncos, was hired by the Seahawks as their tight ends coach in 2010 and served in that role until this offseason’s coaching overhaul.
Kekuewa previously served as the assistant offensive line coach for the Seahawks before joining the Panthers in the same position.
Bates played exclusively as a special teamer for nine years before joining the Seahawks as an assistant coach in 2023. He will now serve as the special teams assistant for the Panthers.
Cooper’s role as the Director of Coaching Development is unclear, and little information about him is available.
The Panthers also confirmed that Ejiro Evero and his entire defensive staff will return for next season, along with senior assistants Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers.
