As per The Seattle Times, a 35-year-old individual was pulled over by Washington State Police troopers around 2am on Interstate 405 in Renton, a Seattle suburb, for reportedly driving 79 mph in a 60 mph zone. The arrest report stated that the individual claimed to have consumed two margaritas but refused to take a breathalyzer test. However, he agreed to voluntary tests, which led the troopers to suspect that he was under the influence. CNN reported that the individual had bloodshot and watery eyes when pulled over.
The individual in question is a former NFL player, Richard Sherman, who was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro defensive back. He was a member of the NFL’s all-decade team for the 2010s and played for the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his 11-season career. He recorded 37 interceptions, forced five fumbles, and recovered seven while making 495 tackles in 144 games (136 starts). Sherman was the leader of the Seahawks’ ‘Legion of Boom’ secondary and won Super Bowl XLVIII with the team in the 2013 season.
Having served as an analyst for Amazon Prime’s Thursday night pregame and postgame shows for two seasons, Sherman later joined Fox Sports’ ‘Undisputed’ talk show in 2023. However, on March 7, 2022, he admitted to charges of first-degree negligent driving, second-degree criminal trespass, and speeding in a construction zone stemming from a July 2021 incident in Redmond, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. Reports indicate that he received a 90-day suspended sentence and two years of monitored supervision, which has yet to expire.
