In the 2014 AFC Championship Game, the Indianapolis Colts were defeated by the New England Patriots with a score of 45-7. The Patriots faced a scandal that resulted in quarterback Tom Brady receiving a four-game suspension at the start of the 2016 season. Despite winning the Super Bowl in both seasons, the team still faces occasional scrutiny over the scandal. Peter King, who confirmed the story based on his sources, expressed regret over his decision almost a decade later. He shared on the “Maggie and Perloff” show on CBS Sports Radio that the implications of getting the report wrong still “haunts” him to this day. King also criticized the NFL for penalizing Brady and the Patriots for manipulating footballs in home games, citing his own study of Brady’s performance in passer rating that showed no significant difference between home and away games.
