Last week, the NFL announced a $30 million increase to the salary cap, giving the Pittsburgh Steelers more money to work with. Mark Kaboly of The Athletic suggests that the team should prioritize adding talent and youth to their aging defensive line. Kaboly recommends pursuing veteran defensive lineman Christian Wilkins or D.J. Reader, both of whom could be viable options for the Steelers. Wilkins, who played for the Miami Dolphins, has had a successful career with 55 or more tackles in four of his five seasons, 20.5 sacks, 43 tackles for loss, 19 passes defended, and one interception. Reader, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals, made 34 tackles and defended eight passes over the course of his career. With Heyward turning 35 and coming off an injury and Ogunjobi not living up to his contract, Kaboly suggests that the Steelers should consider throwing money at Wilkins or Reader.
