During the NFL Draft combine, Brandon Beane, the general manager of the Buffalo Bills, addressed the media and discussed the team’s decision to trade up for quarterback Josh Allen in the 2018 draft. Specifically, Beane mentioned on Tuesday that they moved up to select Allen seventh overall.
Fortunately for Beane, Allen has proven to be a valuable asset over the course of the past six seasons, contributing to the team’s success as one of the top NFL teams. Buffalo has claimed the AFC East championship for the past three seasons, although they have yet to secure a Super Bowl victory during the Josh Allen era. Despite this, they have made it to at least one AFC title game.
However, the team has faced setbacks in recent years, being eliminated by the Cincinnati Bengals once and the Kansas City Chiefs twice in the past three seasons. Nevertheless, they are determined to reach the Super Bowl with Allen at the helm. Beane has done an excellent job constructing a team around Allen, who is considered one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league alongside Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Allen is currently 27 years old.

Josh Allen is a highly skilled quarterback in the NFL whose style of play is comparable to that of former Green Bay Packers quarterback, Brett Favre. Both quarterbacks are known for their carefree attitude towards throwing the football, resulting in a high number of touchdowns and interceptions.
While Favre has a Super Bowl title and an MVP award under his belt, Allen is yet to achieve either of those accolades. However, he had an impressive season last year with a 66.5% pass completion rate, 4,306 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. He also rushed for 524 yards, 15 touchdowns, and an average of 4.7 yards per carry.
Beane is fortunate that the quarterback position is crucial in the NFL, and Allen’s development has been a remarkable feat. Despite being a zero-star recruit and displaying a wild playing style in college, the Bills transformed him into one of the most talked-about quarterbacks in the league.
Buffalo initially intended for Allen to sit out the 2018 season behind Nathan Peterman. However, Peterman’s poor performance in the first game against the Baltimore Ravens forced the Bills to play Allen, and the rest is history.
Trading up for a quarterback is a risky move, but it paid off for the Bills, making it a memorable story for Beane to share. It is challenging to evaluate the quarterback position, but Buffalo hit a home run with Allen.
