Last season, the Panthers had the worst performance, led by quarterback Bryce Young, who earned the team a last-place offensive rating. Despite being the number one overall pick for Carolina in 2023, Young’s poor performance contributed to the team’s 2-15 record. However, the new head coach, Dave Canales, believes that Young is not a lost cause and does not need fixing. Instead, Canales plans to focus on building a strong offense that takes care of the football, creates more explosives, and minimizes damage with exotic pressures. Canales has experience in lifting broken quarterbacks, such as Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield, and plans to present a tangible plan to Young that highlights areas for improvement and strengths. Last season, Young threw for only 11 touchdowns and had ten interceptions, but he did manage to throw for 2,877 yards at a 59.8% completion rate while playing for the former Clemson Tide.
