Dan Morgan and Dave Canales may have revealed their preference for a wide receiver to pair with quarterback Bryce Young in the upcoming 2024 NFL season. According to The Athletic, the Carolina Panthers met twice with Xavier Legette, a wide receiver from the University of South Carolina, during the 2024 Senior Bowl. Legette is a promising prospect with connections to the NFL and has even trained with San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel. He could provide the perfect solution to the Panthers’ struggling passing game. Scouts predict that Legette will be a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, citing his impressive combination of size (6-foot-1, 223 pounds) and speed.
In 2023, he achieved second-team All-ACC status after recording 71 catches for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns.
Although he shows weakness at the line of scrimmage and lacks explosive agility, his impressive downfield speed compensates for these areas.
During his rookie season, Young lacked a receiver capable of stretching the field, prompting the Panthers to potentially consider adding Legette as a solution.
While he may require further development at the NFL level, his size provides a strong foundation for Canales and his team to focus on refining technical skills.
