After a tumultuous season filled with ups and downs, the prospects for the Chicago Bulls seemed bleak following a demoralizing defeat to the Pistons last week. The team’s chances of salvaging their season depended on finding solid ground and securing a stable spot in the standings, which meant defeating strong opponents. Their victory against the Cavaliers was a good start, but they needed to continue their momentum against the 34-25 Kings the following night.
With key players like Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams, Torrey Craig, and Lonzo Ball sidelined due to injuries, the task at hand was no easy feat. However, Coby White, DeMar DeRozan, and Ayo Dosunmu stepped up to deliver a well-rounded performance for the Bulls.
DeRozan led the charge with an impressive 33 points, shooting a remarkable 10-for-12 from the field. Even with Sacramento’s efforts to contain him, DeRozan was unstoppable, making 11 of 12 free throws. Dosunmu continued his hot streak, contributing 20 points and 5 assists while shooting an efficient 60% from the field.
But it was White who stole the spotlight with a career-high 37 points, along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds. He made 14 out of 19 shots, single-handedly keeping the Bulls in the game until they secured a much-needed 113-109 upset.
