On March 6, the Buffalo Bills made a number of significant veteran cuts.
Tre’Davious White, Siran Neal, and Jordan Poyer were released by general manager Brandon Beane. The Bills defence will appear very different in the upcoming season because Micah Hyde is considering retiring.
Jeramiah Poyer, Poyer’s brother, believes Beane is making a grave error. Jeremiah wrote on X, saying, “haha welp. bombs out! What a moron he is, lol.
“I hope BB has a plan lol and hope he has a few more good years wherever he goes,” a fan retorted. In reply, Jeramiah wrote, “He does.” to allow the bombing of two small children.
To Jeramiah, someone else said, “Understandable. But it’s still depressing to behold. But I know that your primary role is that of his brother. Here, we still adore him. We still TRUST Beane, though. It’s a puzzle.
To which Poyer’s brother retorted, “No dilemma I am aware of the public’s perception of and faith in Beane, even if he hasn’t done anything well. However, the general public doesn’t know the same things about Beane that the players and their families do. It’s not all that they depict.
Jeramiah’s remarks are unexpected in light of the Bills’ 2024 NFLPA Team Player Report Card grade of B for family treatment. Beane’s role received no grade, but head coach Sean McDermott received an A.
The Bills have three safeties under contract for the upcoming season: Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, and Kendall Williamson, the latter of whom is on a reserve/futures contract. Given that Hamlin only played in 30 snaps last season, the Bills are likely in the market for a new starting safety. “Do not be surprised if their most significant swing in free agency this offseason is at safety,” Buscaglia wrote. “Taking a safety this April, even if they were to sign a free agent.”
safety, it would still make sense to provide the Bills with a long-term substitute for Rapp, who had some difficult games.
They need some sort of young infusion, even if it’s simply for developmental depth rather than a choice in the first two rounds. In a perfect world, they could use [Cam] Lewis to cover a free agency safety, and in 2025, a rookie could replace Lewis as the starting strong safety.
