Carolina’s rebuilding process is well underway, but there are still many positions on the Panthers’ roster that need to be filled. Before discussing the next steps for the front office, let’s quickly review the current player movements. New Additions: Diontae Johnson (WR), Damien Lewis (LG), Robert Hunt (RG), Yosh Nijman (OT), A’Shawn Robinson (DL), K’Lavon Chaisson (OLB), D.J. Wonnum (OLB), Josey Jewell (LB), Dane Jackson (CB), Jordan Fuller (S). Departures: Bradley Bozeman (C), David Sharpe (OT), Hayden Hurst (TE), Giovanni Ricci (TE), Brian Burns (OLB), Yetur Gross-Matos (OLB), Frankie Luvu (LB), Donte Jackson (CB), Vonn Bell (S), Jeremy Chinn (S). Top remaining needs for Carolina (not in any particular order):
TIGHT END – Carolina has struggled to fill the void left by Greg Olsen’s departure, especially after parting ways with Hayden Hurst. This leaves Tommy Tremble, Ian Thomas, and Stephen Sullivan as the options. The team is likely to target a tight end in the upcoming draft.
CENTER – Although the Panthers have made significant additions to the offensive line, the center position remains unfilled. It is possible that they have identified a center in the draft whom they are determined to acquire.
OUTSIDE LINEBACKER – While the addition of D.J. Wonnum and K’Lavon Chaisson is a good start, the team needs to do more to replace Brian Burns, possibly targeting Jadeveon Clowney.
CORNERBACK – The cornerback position is currently thin, particularly considering Jaycee Horn’s injury history. Carolina is expected to address this by adding a veteran player and selecting a cornerback in the draft.
