Arguably the NFL’s weakest roster from the previous season belonged to the Carolina Panthers. General manager Scott Fitterer, head coach Frank Reich, and the majority of the offensive staff were fired as a result of it. While Brandt Tilis was brought in from the Chiefs to aid with the puzzle pieces, assistant general manager Dan Morgan assumed the major position in the front office.
The Panthers’ new leadership has been very proactive in trying to restructure the team’s roster. They have prioritized bolstering the offense over the defense, particularly focusing on answering questions about Bryce Young’s capabilities. Many changes have already occurred, with more expected. A preliminary look at the Panthers’ current roster reveals aspirations for improvement, with projected starters highlighted in bold.
Offense
Quarterback
Bryce Young, Andy Dalton
The Panthers are likely to add more quarterbacks, possibly through the draft, to provide depth and competition for Young. Young will begin as the definitive starter, offering him the opportunity to showcase his potential beyond his previous season performance.
Running back
Chuba Hubbard, Miles Sanders, Raheem Blackshear, Tarik Cohen, Spencer Brown
Hubbard has secured the starting position after outperforming Miles Sanders last season, though the team may still seek additional talent in this area to enhance their offensive capabilities.
Wide receiver
Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, Jonathan Mingo, Terrace Marshall Jr., Ihmir Smith-Marsette, David Moore
The Panthers are expected to target a top wide receiver in the upcoming draft to address gaps in the lineup. Johnson’s arrival is promising, but more playmaking options are needed, especially considering Mingo’s underwhelming rookie season and Thielen’s advancing age.
