After being dealt to the San Francisco 49ers in October 2022, Christian McCaffrey has been greatly missed by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers’ win-loss record has dropped to 8-20 since McCaffrey left, and his replacements haven’t exactly been great either. It’s obvious that the team needs to keep developing around Bryce Young, so in the 2018 NFL Draft, who should they target at running back?
The Carolina Panthers will be home to one of the best running back prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class, Jonathan Brooks (Texas), according to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report.
Brooks was dominating the game before his ACL injury last November, accumulating over 1400 yards from scrimmage in less than 11 games, catching 25 passes, and scoring eleven touchdowns. He was a standout player in every aspect. Had he not been injured during the College Football Playoff run with Texas, Brooks could have easily exceeded 2000 yards from scrimmage for the year. Reports indicate that Brooks is progressing well after ACL surgery and should be ready for NFL training camp this summer. If he falls to the Panthers’ early third-round pick as some mock draft data suggests, he would be a logical choice.
