Evan Roberts from WFAN radio shared a bizarre opinion suggesting that the Giants should try to trade for Josh Allen because he supposedly doesn’t want to stay in Buffalo anymore.
In an attempt to imitate a controversial radio host, Roberts continued his offensive remarks by targeting Allen’s partner, singer/actress Hailee Steinfeld, and disparaging the people of Western New York. He suggested that Josh’s girlfriend would prefer shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City rather than spending time in Buffalo. His comments, apart from being disrespectful towards Allen’s companion and the Buffalo community, also included an inaccurate description of the Bills’ offseason activity as a ‘rebuild.’ It’s evident that a team with a prime franchise quarterback cannot be classified as rebuilding. The Bills are actually focusing on a youth movement to create salary cap flexibility in the future, rather than rebuilding. Despite Roberts’ claims, the Bills maintain a strong core of offensive and defensive starters from a team that recently won their fourth consecutive AFC East division crown. Furthermore, the notion that Allen wants to leave Buffalo is unfounded, as he has shown dedication to the region and its fans. Additionally, it would be irrational for any general manager to trade away a talented 28-year-old quarterback like Allen, especially considering his relatively affordable contract. Roberts’ suggestion that Buffalo has lost ground to the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets due to the departure of Diggs is not supported by the facts. Despite Diggs’ declining performance towards the end of the season, Allen still led the NFL in total yards and total touchdowns. Even before Diggs joined the team, Allen led a less talented roster to 10 wins and a playoff berth in 2019. As long as Allen remains healthy, the Bills are likely to achieve another 10+ wins, despite Roberts’ negative predictions.
