Novak Djokovic, like many tennis fans, feels saddened by Rafael Nadal’s ongoing struggles with injuries, leading to his withdrawal from the upcoming Monte-Carlo Masters. Djokovic believes that Nadal knows best when it comes to his body and whether he needs to delay his comeback. Nadal had a brief start to his 2024 season at the Brisbane International following a limited 2023 season due to injuries, but another injury setback in the quarterfinals has once again put him out of action.
Despite multiple delayed returns, the 22-time Grand Slam champion was expected to participate in the clay season at Monte-Carlo but decided to withdraw from the Masters 1000 event a few days before. In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Novak Djokovic discussed Rafael Nadal’s challenges and expressed disappointment at his prolonged absence. Djokovic mentioned that he was unsure of Nadal’s physical condition but hoped to see him return in time for the French Open. In a past interview, Nadal talked about his own injury struggles and acknowledged that he would make different decisions if given the chance, unlike Djokovic, who he believed managed his career better due to his playing style allowing for a longer career.
