Although they don’t have a pick in the first round, the Carolina Panthers have seven picks overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. In a package deal with the Chicago Bears prior to the 2018 draft, the Panthers gave up the pick for the 2023 No. 1 pick, which Carolina used to select quarterback Bryce Young.
The Panthers’ hopes were not realised. Young had a difficult season, and the Panthers (2–15) had the worst record in the league at the end. Caleb Williams, the quarterback for USC, is predicted to be selected by the Bears with the first overall pick.
Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in Detroit will host the NFL draft in 2024 from April 25 to April 27. Round 1 is scheduled to start on April 25 at 8 p.m. ET, and Rounds 2 and 3 are on April 26 starting at 7 p.m. ET. Rounds 4 through 7 begin at noon ET on April 27. The draft will be broadcast on ESPN, ABC, ESPN+ and the ESPN App. There are 257 total picks in the draft.
Here’s the full list of the Panthers’ draft picks by round, along with a look at their top roster needs headed into the 2024 season.
Carolina Panthers 2024 draft picks
Round 2: No. 33
Round 2: No. 39 (from New York Giants)
Round 3: No. 65
Round 4: No. 101
Round 5: No. 141 (from New York Giants)
Round 5: No. 142 (from Tennessee)
Round 7: No. 240 (from Pittsburgh)
First three needs: C, WR, and OLB. Free agent OLB Jadeveon Clowney was signed by the Panthers; but, at the age of 31, he is not a long-term replacement for Pro Bowler Brian Burns, who was dealt to the Giants. K’Lavon Chaisson and D.J. Wonnum, who were signed as free agents but are still in the prove-it phase, aren’t either.
After Adam Thielen and former Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, Carolina has little else. It seems imperative to use one of the two second-round picks on a pass-catcher in light of the deep class of wide receivers. Additionally, Austin Corbett, who played guard for the majority of his NFL career, is expected to start at centre, thus the Panthers will need to locate a young guy to develop behind him.
