Some people think the Buffalo Bills may try to trade up and choose a new great wide receiver after cutting ties with Stefon Diggs. Buffalo possesses three selections in the first two rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft and ten picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, therefore there is merit to such a move. Dalton Kincaid, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel are all trustworthy choices, but Buffalo will most likely need a true star to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and emerging Houston Texans.
The Bills are expected to move up for a wide receiver, according to edge defender Von Miller, even though it is unclear exactly what Brandon Bean and company will do on draft day. In a previous article on the three-time All-Pro’s Instagram story, Miller made it sound like a trade up was a foregone conclusion.
Although there are many reasons to think the Bills would move up, Von Miller’s report should not be taken too seriously. Miller, for starters, is not Brandon Beane and, in the end, has no say in the matter. Second, Miller isn’t exactly the most reliable oracle—he has forecasted rosters in the past.
In the NFL Draft, there is a case to be made for the Bills to trade down, but there is also a case to be made for them to trade up. Buffalo has ten picks total, but only two of those are in the top three rounds. The Bills should attempt to choose as many elite, cost-controlled players as they can through the NFL Draft, given Josh Allen’s impending cap hit. Along with this in mind, Buffalo should be more than willing to trade their first- and fifth-round picks for second- and third-round selections.
However, for the sake of argument, let’s assume that the Bills plan to trade up. If they do this, they’ll need to find somebody willing to trade down. In no particular order, these are the most likely suitors.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have two picks in the top-10, but they only have two more picks in the remaining class. The Bills would want to move up to the ninth overall pick, and they would definitely love to trade down and add some more picks. Rome Odunze is still likely to score at this stage since Joe Brady’s offence would benefit greatly from his exceptional route running skills.
Saints of New Orleans
Although they usually trade up, the New Orleans Saints could be open to moving back with the Buffalo Bills. If New Orleans wants Derek Carr to play through the 2024 season, they need to find two trustworthy tackles since Ryan Ramczyk’s health is in doubt.
