Von Miller seems to be implying that the Buffalo Bills will be circling teams in the 2017 NFL Draft that are much bigger than themselves.
Many people in Western New York, like Count Miller, are rooting for the Bills to use their first pick to bolster their receiving corps. However, the seasoned defensive back seems to be implying that this crucial selection may occur before Buffalo’s regularly scheduled pick, which is set for 28th overall: A staged video of Brandon Beane, the team general manager, dancing to the joy of onlookers was posted on Miller’s Instagram story. Beane’s plans for the draft in less than two weeks seem to be hinted at in the description that goes with the image.
Miller annotated the video (h/t) as “Brandon Beane arriving to the 2024 NFL draft to trade up for a WR.”
This summer, Josh Allen’s aerial weaponry suffered a little bit as top options Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, respectively, left for Jacksonville and Houston. Although Buffalo welcomed Curtis Samuel, mock drafters are not persuaded that it will be searching beyond the receivers’ place by this.
Beane has been hesitant to select receivers with draft picks; the highest pick he has ever made was Davis in the fourth round of 2020. Since Sammy Watkins was selected fourth overall in 2014, Buffalo has not selected a receiver in the first round. Given the unanswered concerns surrounding Buffalo’s Super Bowl window, it makes sense that they would try to facilitate Allen’s offensive journey as much as possible. Given how top-heavy the rookie receivers position is, Beane and company might have no choice but to barter.
The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off on Apr. 25 in Detroit.
