Without sugarcoating it, the Buffalo Bills have not had a good offseason.
Initially, the Bills experienced a severe cap shortage that resulted in the departure of important players like Tre’Davious White and Mitch Morse. Then free agency arrived, and the Bills saw players like Leonard Floyd and Gabe Davis join other clubs. The Bills most recently made the tough choice to trade away standout receiver Stefon Diggs, which resulted in a significant dead cap cost for this season but more flexibility going forward.
Since the Bills lost so many important players in the offseason, many have started to write them off and even say their window for contention is closed. But Dion Dawkins, an offensive tackle, believes it to be completely untrue.”There’s always a window of opportunity when you have guys like me, Josh Allen, Shaquille Lawson, Ed Oliver, and yourself, and when you have a group of guys that lead with good hearts, good athleticism, and good football, and when we put on that helmet, those pads, and that jersey that says Bills, there’s always an opportunity,” Dawkins said on “The Jim Rome Show.” It’s always accessible. Though, of course, it could be a little bit more.
With a smaller roster, the Bills still have to battle with the many AFC contenders, so they have their job cut out for them. That being said, the squad continues to have a great deal of faith in its capacity to compete.
The Baltimore Ravens revealed on Sunday night that they have signed a talented local wide receiver to their roster for the upcoming season. For the offseason practice session, the Ravens will have 90 players on their roster.
Following the departure of veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to free agency this offseason, the Ravens sought to bolster their pass-catching depth for quarterback Lamar Jackson. On Sunday, they brought in a player who can fill a variety of roles. The Ravens announced that they had signed Deonte Harty, a native of Baltimore, Maryland.
In the wake of the 2019 NFL Draft, Harty was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. He remained a member of the Saints throughout the 2022 campaign. Last season, he was a player with the Bills.Leading the league in punt returns and punt return yards in 2019 garnered Harty All-Pro recognition and a Pro Bowl candidature.
In his five years in the NFL, Harty has caught 79 passes for 943 yards and five touchdowns. With 2,989 yards (16.7 YPR) and two touchdowns, he has returned 179 punts. In Week 18, he helped the Bills defeat the Miami Dolphins and win the AFC East by returning the longest punt of his career—96 yards—for a touchdown.
