In the NFL Draft the following week, the New England Patriots are slated to select third overall. A highly regarded quarterback will be available for selection at that position, but will Eliot Wolf, the general manager and scouting director, choose to take that route?
Wolf gave the impression that he isn’t entirely committed to selecting a quarterback with the team’s first pick during a pre-draft news conference on Thursday.
Additionally, Wolf expressed his opinion that the Patriots do not require a quarterback to be selected in the first round. He is certain that the present team can sustain a first-year player at centre, though, should they opt to leave the draft with a rookie signal caller. After sending Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars after three seasons, the Patriots are searching for their new “quarterback of the future”. At the moment, the quarterbacks with contracts on the roster are Nathan Rourke, Bailey Zappe, and Jacoby Brissett.
Could Jayden Daniels’ pick be possible? McCarthy, J.J.? Or will Wolf drop back in order to get a big draft haul? In one week, Patriots supporters will have their answer.
