Raheem Mostert of the Miami Dolphins may not be among the NFL’s finest running backs, but he just finished a very successful 2023 campaign.
At the age of 18, he tied Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers for the most running touchdowns in the league with his career-high 1,012 yards.
Mostert asserted, via a tweet shared by Dov Kleiman, that he is the Dolphins’ fastest player.
This is an absurd assertion given that they have Tyreek Hill, one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and maybe the fastest in the open field.
Like Hill, Mostert competed in track and field as a young athlete, and at the 2014 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships, he took home two gold medals.
Mostert joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2016, after playing infrequently for four other clubs.
He began to develop as a professional running back there, and he was a vital member of the 2019 Super Bowl winning squad.
Prior to the 2022 season, he signed with Miami, where he was reunited with head coach Mike McDaniel who was member of the 49ers coaching staff when Mostert was there.
Mostert’s improved production was a big reason why the Dolphins ranked first in rushing touchdowns, second in points, and first in total yards last season.
After winning 11 games and losing in the Wild Card round of the playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs, they’re looking to take the next step this fall.
