NFL source Adam Schefter reports that the New England Patriots will speak with former Carolina Panthers director of player agreements and salary cap manager Samir Suleiman this week. On Wednesday, Suleiman will have an interview as the Patriots continue their visitation with Brandon Hunt, the Eagles director of scouting. After Bill Belichick left Foxborough, the Patriots are looking to replace their head of football operations. This represents a changing of the guard in Foxborough.
From 2020 until 2023, Suleiman was employed by the Panthers in the past. He’s also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, L.A. Rams, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Personnel and contracts have been his main areas of interest.
The Patriots have been looking everywhere for a new head of football operations. Interview requests were denied by Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown, former Cardinals vice president of player personnel Quentin Harris, and Bills director of player personnel Terrance Grey.
Director of scouting for the Eagles Brandon Hunt also interviewed for general manager positions with the Raiders and the Steelers. He was interviewed as well for a Buffalo Bills assistant general manager position.
After Bill Belichick left, Eliot Wolf, the scouting director for New England and a former Packers executive, took over as the team’s de facto general manager. Wolf is seen as the front-runner for the position. Wolf was employed for the Packers from 2004 to 2017 before joining the Cleveland Browns as an associate general manager.
After the 2024 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers are cutting ties with two front office personnel. Reporter Joe Person reports that Assistant Director of Pro Scouting Tyler Ramsey and Director of Pro Scouting Rob Hanrahan will be leaving before the upcoming season.
Hanrahan was a member of the Panthers for seven years before being fired. After 16 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, the last two of which he played as the team’s director of pro personnel (2015–16), he joined the staff. Ramsey spent three seasons as a member of the Panthers. After working with former general manager Scott Fitterer for 12 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, he joined the team. He was mostly employed with the Seahawks as an area scout.
Now that they’re in a fresh era with general manager Dan Morgan and head coach Dave Canales. Morgan noted before the draft that there could be some movement on staff in the following days.
