Miles Sanders, the running back for the Carolina Panthers, is a sought-after player in trade talks. Originally a second-round pick for the Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina’s previous management made a significant investment in Sanders after his impressive 1,200-yard season in 2022. However, his performance declined in 2023, with an average of only 3.3 yards per carry, leading him to lose his starting position to Chuba Hubbard, the longtime backup. With a new head coach and general manager in Jonathon Brooks, it appears likely that Carolina will part ways with the veteran player.
The Colts are a great fit for a potential Miles Sanders trade due to their ability to replicate the environment that allowed him to thrive in Philadelphia. With former Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen now the head coach in Indianapolis, a mobile quarterback in Anthony Richardson, and a solid offensive line, Sanders could flourish with the Colts. While he wouldn’t be the starter with Jonathan Taylor in the lead role, Sanders could provide valuable depth in case of injury. Other teams may also be interested in Sanders given the lack of running back talent in the 2024 NFL Draft class.
The Raiders may have the weakest running back group in sports, with Zamir White showing promise in limited play but not proven for a full-time role. Alexander Mattison’s struggles with the Vikings as a starter serve as a cautionary tale. Miles Sanders could provide some depth to the Raiders’ lackluster unit along with rookie Dylan Laube, allowing them to make do in 2024.
