Chuba Hubbard aims to capitalize on his successful performance in the 2023 season, which could enhance his reputation as one of the top running backs in the league. Pro Football Focus ranked Hubbard as the 28th best running back, highlighting his impact as a reliable starter throughout the season. He outperformed Miles Sanders, who was a major acquisition for Carolina but failed to meet expectations.
The 24-year-old running back had an impressive season, rushing 238 times for a personal best of 902 yards and five touchdowns. His performance has earned him recognition from writers such as Thomas Valentine of Pro Football Focus.
Valentine noted that Hubbard initially was expected to be a secondary option in the Carolina Panthers’ backfield behind Miles Sanders, who was brought in on a major contract. However, Hubbard stepped up as the primary back when Sanders struggled to produce.
As the 2024 season approaches, Hubbard will face competition for playing time in a crowded running back group. Despite sharing touches with Jonathon Brooks and Sanders, Hubbard is likely to emerge as the top performer among the trio.
Following Hubbard in the rankings are Austin Ekeler (No. 29), Devin Singletary (No. 30), Gus Edwards (No. 31), and Zamir White (No. 32).
