Sal Capaccio of the Buffalo Bills reported on Wednesday that wide receiver Keon Coleman has signed a four-year rookie contract.
The Bills picked Coleman, the team’s highest overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, with the first pick in Round 2, 33rd overall.
As of right now, Coleman’s rookie contract’s specifics are unknown. However, we can estimate his first NFL deal by looking at the draft from the previous year.
Quarterback Will Levis, the 33rd overall pick of the previous year, inked a four-year, $9,542,165 contract with an AAV of $2,385,541 and a signing bonus of $3,939,756, according to Spotrac.
It’s interesting to note that Levis did not go first in the second round because the Miami Dolphins were penalised for breaking league rules pertaining to game integrity because of their interactions with quarterback Tom Brady and Sean Payton’s agent.
Rather, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected cornerback Joey Porter Jr. with pick 32 in Round 2 of last year’s selection to start the second night. Porter signed a four-year contract worth $9,618,345 (AAV of $2,404,586) with a signing bonus of $3,995,160, according to Spotrac’s figures.
Coleman’s agreement is probably in the neighborhood of both Levis and Porter’s deals.
