This summer, a number of players will have the choice to stay with the Phoenix Suns; however, guard Eric Gordon has provided us with an update.
Gordon inked a two-year contract with a player-option for the 2024–2025 season with Phoenix over the offseason.
Though he was mainly erratic with his shooting and even made headlines earlier in the year when he made it public that he wasn’t thrilled with his role, there was still hope that he would develop into a potent sixth man in the Valley.
Heading into the summer, Gordon’s status with the organization was uncertain, and this remains true as per The Athletic’s Kelly Iko. In the previous season, Gordon averaged 11 points per game and shot 41% from three-point range in the playoffs, where Phoenix was eliminated in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The recent coaching changes, with Frank Vogel being fired and Mike Budenholzer being hired, could potentially influence Gordon’s future decision.
Given that Gordon was a member of the Rockets for a total of seven years prior, his interest in the team is not surprising.
Gordon joins Josh Okogie, Damion Lee, and Drew Eubanks as the only four players with a player-option in Phoenix this summer.
Gordon, at $3.4 million, is the most expensive choice.
