Von Miller, the defensive end for the Buffalo Bills, has encountered a great deal of adversity in his professional career. After all, one does not become the active-all-time leader in sacks in the NFL without experiencing some difficulties.
He may not have encountered such difficulties before, though.
The questions surrounding Miller right now are more about his abilities than about his possible role or health. Both supporters and analysts question if the 35-year-old still has it in him to help a team in the present or if he is only capitalising on a career that could earn him a spot in the Hall of Fame.
Miller, a four-star high school prospect and past second-overall selection, is not used to having his talent questioned, but it is not unjustified. He is coming off a 2023 season in which the Buffalo supporters saw a ghost rather than his trademark ghost move; for the most part of the season, he had no impact and only recorded a career-low 17 total quarterback pressures, according to PFF, along with three total tackles and zero sacks.
Although not expected, Miller’s season was dismal because he was still healing from an ACL rupture sustained in 2022. Fans weren’t exactly expecting him to look like the Miller of old, but they also didn’t expect him to return to the pitch less than 11 months after the first injury.
After more than a year without the illness, the veteran is ready to disprove his detractors and prove that he is still Von Miller. Sean McDermott, the head coach of Buffalo, expressed excitement about what the once-dominant pass-rusher will contribute to the team in the upcoming season. The sideline boss recently discussed Miller on the Centred on Buffalo podcast, implying that he believes there is still something left in the tank.Sadly, he was hurt on Thanksgiving [in 2022], according to McDermott. “Yesteryear passed us by. It was kind of [one of those], and you kind of expect it—this is the first year after an ACL, so it’s a steep learning curve. We’re eager to see what the second year following the injury holds.
