The Carolina Panthers are still talking about their offensive line.
The Panthers grabbed Ike Boettger on Friday to give them more depth at guard.
The team cut rookie linebacker Jackson Mitchell to make place for Boettger.
The 29-year-old Boettger made his NFL debut as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Buffalo Bills. Iowa was his collegiate basketball home.
Boettger has also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs. Prior to being released earlier in the week, he also briefly participated in the Detroit Lions’ training camp.
Throughout his career, he has made 36 appearances, making 17 starts.
It was clear that the offensive line of the Panthers required reinforcement. There were seven other healthy offensive linemen for Carolina that weren’t starters when they took on the New York Jets on Saturday.
The Panthers’ first move of the week came on Thursday when they claimed Mason Brooks off waivers. It’s unclear if Dave Canales will start the starting lineup against the Jets on Saturday.
