The Buffalo Bills still have several roster decisions to make, but after a few preseason games and most of training camp, it’s the right moment to start making predictions. The upcoming third and final preseason game will significantly influence some of the remaining position competitions. However, one thing is evident: this year’s roster will differ notably from those of previous years. Let’s dive into the forecast for the 53-man roster.
53-Man Roster Prediction: Josh Allen, Mitch Trubisky (2) Quarterbacks (of 25) Offence
Three running backs: Frank Gore Jr., Ray Davis, and James Cook.
(1) Complete Back: Reggie Gilliam
Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, Tyrell Shavers, and K.J. Hamler are the six wide receivers.
Quintin Morris, Dawson Knox, and Dalton Kincaid are the three tight ends.
The following players make up the offensive line (10): Ryan Van Demark, Alec Anderson, Tylan Gable, Spencer Brown, O’Cyrus Torrence, David Edwards, Connor McGovern, Dion Dawkins, and La’el Collins.
Frank Gore Jr., who has been playing extremely well and receiving great marks from the coaches throughout the preseason, gets my vote for the third running back spot. There’s no doubt that he and Ty Johnson—who saw just one carry in the second preseason game—will face off in this contest.
It is difficult at wide receiver. In this position group, Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s handling of the neck injury muddies the waters. To what extent is it serious? Is he a contender for PUP, or will he be prepared for Week 1? This area is still somewhat cloudy.
Throughout camp, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger has shown promise, but the starting unit isn’t giving him any looks. Allow him more time to continue impressing; he has ashot to develop into a solid interior offensive lineman. He’s not a player you can stash on the practice squad – someone else will scoop him up if you do.
Defence (25): Greg Rousseua, A.J. Epenesa, Von Miller, Dawuane Smoot, and Javon Solomon are the five defensive ends.
Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, DeWayne Carter, and Austin Johnson make up the defensive line.
Terrel Bernard, Dorian Williams, Edefuan Ulofoshio, Nicholas Morrow, and Joe Andreessen are the five linebackers.
Six cornerbacks: Daequan Hardy, Kaiir Elam, Christian Benford, Taron Johnson, Ja’Marcus Ingram, and Rasul Douglas.
Taylor Rapp, Cole Bishop, Mike Edwards, Cam Lewis, and Damar Hamlins are the five safeties.
Yes, I am carrying it out. “Buffalo Joe” should be on this squad, in my opinion, as a space became available due to Matt Milano’s injury. To take advantage of the new rule that permits them to place Milano on injured reserve that day and designate him for a return later in the season, I anticipate Buffalo will wait until cut down day.
In the second preseason game, Joe Andreessen led the club with 12 tackles after getting a start, and he looked great. Andreessen performed this work against NFL talent that was starting, and I think the underdog tale merits a berth on this team.
